AAura

The desktop editor for haptic trailers.

Haptic Studio is where film teams and creators author Apple Core Haptics (.ahap) locked to video or music — AI draft, hand-finish, live phone preview, then export or publish to Aura.

What Haptic Studio is

Haptic Studio is the professional desktop editor for Apple Core Haptics (.ahap) locked to video or music. Film teams and creators import a cut, generate editable haptic timelines with local AI, refine intensity and sharpness by hand, preview on a live phone, then export .ahap or publish to Aura.

Theatrical trailers and action scenes lose impact on phones. Studio exists so production and marketing teams can author synchronized Core Haptics the same way they finish picture — with a timeline, versions, and device preview before release.

Projects live as local .hvproj bundles. Media is probed with FFmpeg. Haptics are authored on a DAW-style timeline (events + intensity/sharpness curves), generated from audio via an optional ML sidecar or DSP fallback, then streamed to HapticCore Preview over Wi‑Fi for feel-before-you-ship validation.

Built for production teams and creators

From trailer houses to independent filmmakers — anyone who needs synchronized Core Haptics on a cut.

  • Movie production & post teams

Author haptic layers for trailers, teasers, and key scenes with versioned local projects and publish into Aura Worlds.

  • Trailer editors

Lock haptics to picture with a program monitor, snap, markers, and frame-accurate playhead while you finish the cut.

  • Sound & haptic designers

Sculpt intensity and sharpness curves, import existing .ahap, and treat events like a DAW treats clips and automation.

  • Video & post-production

Keep picture and feel in sync — Studio is haptic-first, video-locked playback, not a general nonlinear video editor.

  • Creators, YouTubers & indie filmmakers

Import vertical Shorts or music tracks, auto-generate a draft, refine hits, preview on your phone, and publish when ready.

  • Marketing teams

Ship haptic-enabled trailers and scenes for campaigns — Studio authors the feel; Aura distributes to audiences.

From import to publish

A step-by-step guide to the Phase 1 Studio pipeline — haptic-first, video- or music-locked, local projects.

  1. 1

    Create a project

Start from the Home dashboard. Create a video or music project, resume recent work, and let Shorts mode auto-detect vertical cuts.

    • New project from the Home library or ⌘K command palette
    • Video projects lock the timeline to picture; Music Mode uses audio as primary media
    • Shorts auto-detect for vertical clips (tall aspect, ≤180s) with a 9:16 preview frame
    • Favorites, pins, and archive keep the project library organized locally
  2. 2

    Import media

Bring in the footage or track you’ll lock haptics to, plus any existing Apple .ahap patterns.

    • Import video for trailer and scene workflows
    • Import audio for Music Mode projects
    • Import and validate existing .ahap files
    • Batch import from Home; media is probed with FFmpeg/FFprobe
    • Assets stay in the local .hvproj bundle — not a cloud media library
  3. 3

    Edit the haptic timeline

Work on a canvas timeline built for Core Haptics — events, curves, markers, and a video-locked program monitor.

    • Haptic track with transient and continuous events
    • Intensity and sharpness parameter curves with keyframes
    • Markers, snap, zoom, and follow-playhead scrolling
    • Undo/redo and keyboard shortcuts for precision edits
    • Not a full NLE — clip merge/split and multi-video layering are out of scope
  4. 4

    Work with audio

Keep picture, waveform, and feel aligned. Music Mode and the ML audio-tagging lane help you generate and review candidates.

    • Waveform synced to the playhead in the program monitor
    • Music Mode Auto Generate — beat/bass-aligned DSP (no ML required)
    • SFX workflows use the ML sidecar with an audio-tagging lane for kept/rejected candidates
    • Dialogue and music beds are considered so impacts stay readable
    • Studio is not a general audio mixer — focus is haptic generation and sync
  5. 5

    Haptic editing & AI

Draft with Auto Generate, then hand-finish every hit. Save in-project haptic version snapshots as you iterate.

    • Auto Generate (SFX): local PANNs + Silero VAD sidecar, with DSP fallback
    • Apply or discard AI drafts; every event remains fully editable
    • Manual sculpting of intensity and sharpness curves
    • Haptic version snapshots — save, restore, rename, and compare inside the project
    • Fullscreen haptic editor and event inspector for detailed work
  6. 6

    Live preview

Stream playback and haptics to HapticCore Preview on a phone over local Wi‑Fi before you publish.

    • LAN session host from Studio to HapticCore Preview (iPhone / Android)
    • Video + haptic timeline streaming; Music Mode supported on Preview
    • Feel Core Haptics on device while the playhead runs in Studio
    • Best results on a physical phone on the same network
  7. 7

    Export and publish

Save local projects, export Apple .ahap, or run the publish wizard to upload finished cuts to Aura.

    • Save versioned .hvproj bundles on disk
    • Export validated .ahap for Apple Core Haptics pipelines
    • Publish wizard: auth, World selection, metadata, validate, upload
    • Shorts mode prefills publish video type when detected
    • Phase 1 cloud is publish/upload — not bidirectional project sync

How production teams use Studio now

Studio supports org-scoped accounts and publishing into shared Aura Worlds. Live multiplayer editing and cloud project sync are on the roadmap — not Phase 1.

  • Org-scoped auth

Sign in with email OTP, Google, or Apple; switch organizations; tokens stored securely in the desktop keychain.

  • Shared Worlds via publish

Team members publish finished haptic cuts into Aura Worlds and catalogs your org controls — not a shared live timeline.

  • Quotas & plans

Org subscription tiers and upload quotas apply at publish time. See Docs for Studio & Admin plan details.

  • Local version tracking

Haptic version snapshots and .hvproj bundles give per-artist iteration history on disk until cloud sync ships.

  • Asset sharing (today)

Share exported .ahap files or published Aura content. In-app shared asset libraries are Coming soon.

  • Coming soon: live collaboration

Real-time multi-editor sessions, permissions, and bidirectional project sync are planned for a later phase.
